Holger's research is focused on developing improved techniques for the sustainable management of infrastructure (with a particular focus on water, energy and the water-energy nexus) and natural resources (with a particular focus on water resources and natural hazards) in an uncertain environment. This includes elements of modelling (with a particular focus on machine learning and hybrid process / data driven models), optimisation (with a particular focus on evolutionary algorithms and other metaheuristics) and decision support (with a particular focus on strategic planning under deep uncertainty). He is currently the Research Leader of the Economics and Strategic Decisions research cluster of the Bushfire and Natural Hazards Cooperative Research Centre, as well as the Leader of a project focussed on the development of a decision support system for the assessment of policy and planning investment options for optimal natural hazard mitigation (UNHaRMED ). Holger also leads an internal University of Adelaide project on Collaborative Analysis for Secure, Alternative, Affordable Energy (CASCADE ). Dr. Fuyuan Gong graduated from Tsinghua University (China) for his Bachelor's Degree, and then got the Master's and Doctor's Degree from Hokkaido University (Japan). After that, Dr. Gong worked as a post-doctor researcher in The University of Tokyo and then moved to Yokohama National University as the Assistant Professor. Currently Dr. Gong is working as the "ZJU 100 Talents" Professor in College of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Zhejiang University. His research interests includes: concrete durability; thermodynamics, poromechanics and micromechanics for porous material; computational modeling; Life time assessment, etc. Dr. Gong has been selected as the JSPS (Japan Society for the Promotion of Science) Research Fellow (2014 - 2016), and visiting scholar in Princeton University (2012). In the last 5 years, Dr. Gong has published over 50 international journal and conference papers, of which 28 journal paper are indexed by SCI. He has also been awarded the "Best Three Papers" from Journal of Advanced Concrete Technology in 2013, Japan Concrete Institute (JCI) Award in 2014, and Achievement Award for Young Engineers by fib (The International Federation for Structural Concrete) in 2017. Currently, Dr. Gong serves as the Associate Editor of Journal of Advanced Concrete Technology.

Ömer AĞA received his Ph.D. in 2000 from Middle East technical University, Turkey. Prof AĞA joined the Department of Environmental Engineering, Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University (IAU), KSA since 2009. Prof AĞA's work is focused on Indoor and outdoor Air quality, Air pollution control, Waste management, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Soil pollution and remediation. He has been involved in more 30 environmental consultancies and conducted over 25 international and national funded research projects. Prof Dr AĞA has published to date over 40 refereed articles in professional journals/proceedings, 1 chapter in refereed international level books and 4 national level books. Prof Dr AĞA continues to serve as peer reviewer for several international journals (including, Environment international, Soil, Air and water Pollution, Atmospheric research, Environmental Engineering Sciences, etc…). Prof AĞA contributed to the establishment and development of environmental engineering programs in Turkey and Saudi Arabia. He has academic, managemental and leadership skills, as he served as the head of environmental engineering department as well as vice dean for quality and strategic planning, permanent committee of curriculum development, and permanent committee of research at IAU. He also lead and supervised the ABET accreditation and safety committees at the college of engineering, IAU. Prof Dr AĞA has granted various research awards related to air, water and soil pollution management. He recently received HCH Prince Saud Bin Naif "Sanabil" award for his patent "EcoTree".

Ruud van Herpen holds a master’s degree in Civil Engineering from Delft University of Technology (1987). He followed several post-graduate courses and made a switch from civil engineering and building physics to fire safety engineering around 1995. From 1991 to 2002, Van Herpen worked as consultant at Cauberg-Huygen Consulting Engineers. In 2002, he became Technical Director at Nieman Consulting Engineers and is now senior consultant at Peutz. Since 2004, Van Herpen has been the initiator and coordinator of the post-graduate course Fire Safety Engineering & Management (SKB and IFV/Fire Service Academy). In 2011, he became a Fellow at the Institution of Fire Engineers and a Professor at Saxion University of Applied Sciences. Van Herpen joined TU/e as Fellow in Fire Safety Engineering in 2012.

Julio Cesar Perez-Hernandez has been an Associate Professor at the University of Notre Dame’s School of Architecture since 2017. He previously taught in this institution as Visiting Professor during the Fall Semester of 2012. An accomplished leader, visionary, historian, and published author, he is a world-class expert in Cuban architecture and urbanism. He has drafted “A Master Plan for 21st Century Havana”, a comprehensive urban plan registered at the Library of Congress in 2006, among other urban plans. As an academic, he has lectured and taught in the most prestigious institutions of the United States, Canada, Europe, Costa Rica, Cuba, and Bermuda. He is the founding Principal and Creative Director of Caesar Studio | Architects & Planners, a successful international practice ranging from architecture to urban planning and design with a focus on excellence. In this role, he has designed and built projects in the United States, Cuba, Spain, and Panama, some of them recipients of several awards. Julio Cesar Perez-Hernandez is also the President of both Cuban Chapters of I.N.T.B.A.U. and C.E.U. He has led and organized International Charrettes on Urban Planning and Urban Design annually since 2007, as well as numerous professional Study Tours in Cuba along the past 20 years. He is the author of the books Inside Cuba (2004) and Inside Havana (2011), both published by Taschen, and two forthcoming books to be published by Andelani Press (Puerto Rico). He has also penned numerous professional articles that have been published in international journals. His academic and professional work has appeared in several international exhibits and publications. Born in Havana, Cuba, Perez-Hernandez obtained his Diploma in Architecture at the School of Architecture of the University of Havana, Cuba in 1982. He taught Architecture and Urban Design Studios as well as Lecture Courses at his Alma Mater from 1988 to 2006. In 2001, he became a Loeb Fellow at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. This institution also selected him as the 2012-2013 Wilbur Marvin Visiting Scholar.

Prof. Alessandro Barracco degrees are in Aerospace engineering from the University of Palermo (2004; Italy) and in Architecture from University of Enna “Kore” (2024; Italy). He has a Ph.D. in Technology&Management of Aeronautical Infrastructure. He is an Assistant Professor at the University of Palermo, Kore University of Enna & SUPINFO Paris, where he teaches Informatics, Mathematics, and Python Programming. IEREK Scientific Committee Member (Egypt), he was Guest Editor for the Parallelism in Architecture and Computing Techniques

Simai Yang is a third-year PhD candidate at the School of Management Science and Real Estate, Chongqing University, China. He has participated in several research projects, including the Key Project of National Social Science Foundation of China, the Major Project of Sichuan Philosophy and Society, and the Faceted Project of Natural Science Foundation of Chongqing Municipality. His research interests include project management, project risk management and transportation infrastructure management.
